Day 10: Machaneh Etgar Continues and Shabbat!

This morning, the chanichimot awoke early for their tiyul in order to beat the heat of the day.  By mid morning, before the scheduled end time, the first groups were already wrapping up their hikes and making their way back to the campsite! Once everyone had returned, they had time to share their experiences with each other! Many of the chanichimot said the experience brought them closer to others who were in their group. One of the groups shared that they got a bit turned around while navigating (don't worry, they weren't actually that lost), but were quickly able to get back on track by identifying ways they could better communicate with each other while on the trail.

Afterwards, it was time for the moment that many of the chanichimot on MBI have been anticipating, perhaps even since they were young chanichimot at machaneh! They were given their first chultzot tnua (movement shirts), marking a symbolic transition into their role as leaders in Habonim Dror North America! They took a lot of photos to mark this exciting occasion. The group then had plenty of time to shower, cool off, and relax a bit before Shabbat.

This afternoon was also special for the chanichimot, and especially those from Machaneh Galil, because they had the opportunity to meet Galil's new shaliach (emissary), Shmulik. Shmulik will move to the Philadelphia area this Fall to be a part of the Galil community!

In the evening, the chanichimot from Na'aleh brought in MBI's second Shabbat together by leading everyone in a beautiful Kabbalat Shabbat. Shmulik, in addition to Leah, a Machaneh Gesher aluma and incoming shlicha mercazi (central emissary) of Habonim Dror North America, also joined the group for Kabbalat Shabbat! After dinner, the group did rikud and had a medura (bonfire), where they got to make their own pita, bring out the guitar and sing many classic kumzitz songs, and hang out together after a busy past couple of days.

Shabbat shalom!
